The BJP and RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) do not endorse Ram Madhav’s comments about Akhand Bharat which triggered off a controversy in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Pakistan, said RSS ideologue Rakesh Sinha in an interview to NDTV.
Akhand Bharat described as an integration of Pakistan and Bangladesh with India through popular goodwill is neither RSS’ nor BJP’s view, Sinha said.
He added that Ram Madhav’s comment was his own point of view and that it is a “cultural and not a political concept.”
It is neither a programme nor a utopia, but an ideal. It is achievable only if the people of Pakistan and Bangladesh accept the pre-Islamic ethos and culture of India, which in the current situation is extremely unlikely.Rakesh Sinha
This acceptance in the current situation is extremely unlikely, Sinha added.
Madhav, a veteran RSS man and the BJP general secretary in an interview to Al Jazeera, a Doha-based channel, said, “As an RSS member, I also hold on to that view.” He, however, clarified, “That does not mean we wage war on any country...we annex any country. Without war, through popular consent, it can happen.”
The RSS, Sinha clarified, sees Pakistan and Bangladesh as “sovereign nations”.
