The Election Commission issued notice to RJD President Lalu Prasad on Thursday in connection with the FIR registered against him for violation of the poll code. Earlier, BJP leader Sushil Modi was sent EC notice for allegedly ‘promising’ to give away laptops, colour TVs and dhoti-saris to voters at an election rally.
The two leaders have been asked in the notices to submit their reply by October 6, told Additional Chief Election Officer R Lakshamanan.
An FIR was lodged against Lalu last Tuesday for allegedly making casteist remark, which the Election Commission found to be violative of election laws.
Launching his campaign from Raghopur in favour of his younger son Tejaswi Yadav, the RJD supremo had described the Assembly election as a direct fight between “the backward castes and forward castes” and gave a call to Yadavs and other backward castes to rally behind the secular alliance to defeat the BJP-led NDA.
