Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will hold a meeting with Aam Aadmi Party MLAs to discuss the dengue outbreak in the city.
He has also written to Vijendra Gupta, Leader of Opposition of the BJP, and to DelhiCongress Chief Ajay Maken, soliciting their support in the fight against dengue.
Three children have died and a total of more than 15 people have succumbed to the disease. Kejriwal, ‘heartbroken’ by the death of the children, made surprise visits to hospitals around the city. He toured wards, met patients and spoke to doctors.
Another girl, aged 9, succumbed to the illness on Friday, soon after 3-year-old Neha Mathur lost her life to the disease on Thursday. 16 people have died this year, in the worst outbreak of Dengue that Delhi has seen in the last five years. The official death toll, however, stands at 5.
Over 2000 people have tested positive for the disease.
