According to agency reports, the armed guard of the magistrate fired to save the officer who barely escaped with his life after the mob torched his vehicle.

The death of the Kashmiri youth comes at a time when conditions in the valley were slightly returning towards normalcy, but Tuesday’s incident could see tension gripping Pampora, Lethpora and other adjacent areas again.

Kashmir has faced intense violence in the aftermath of the Burhan Wani encounter. In the past couple of weeks, situation in the valley hit a new low with the number of civilian deaths rising to 50, and close to 3000 people sustaining injuries.
