Seven people have been arrested in connection with the burning alive of a 27-year-old woman in Rajasthan.

The incident took place on Friday. The victim identified as Rama Kumwar was set on fire allegedly by her family members for marrying a man from another caste eight years ago in Dungapur district.

Kumwar had eloped after marrying a man from another community and returned to her village to visit her family along with her little daughter. That is when the family members committed the heinous crime.

Her brother Laxman Singh and other relatives who were still angry with her (Rama Kumwar), dragged her out of my house. They beat her up badly and burnt her alive. To destroy evidence, they cremated her late in the evening.

Kalavati also claimed to have been beaten up badly when she tried to save Rama Kumwar. Among the apprehended, Rama’s brother Laxman Singh is also included.
