- The Meteorological Department on Tuesday issued a heavy rain alert for Uttarakhand’s Garhwal region for the next 36 hours.
- While light to moderate showers are likely in many places in Uttarakhand, heavy rains are likely to lash isolated places in the Garhwal region, MET office Director Vikram Singh said.
- Thunder squalls and hailstorms are also likely to occur at isolated places in the hill state. Singh advised people to avoid venturing out in heavy rain, especially on chardham pilgrimage yatris.
- Thunder squalls blowing at speeds of around 80 kmph hit Dehradun and its immediate neighbourhood on Sunday evening uprooting trees and disrupting power supply.
