India is all set to become the latest destination for ‘religious tourism’ with the government approving projects worth over Rs 1,500 under three schemes.
The three ‘schemes’ are the Ramayana circuit, Krishna circuit and Buddhist circuit, reports The Times of India.
Largely spread over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the projects will lead to infrastructure development including building of roads, railway tracks, tourist facilitation centres, toilets, changing rooms near ghats, CCTV cameras, and Wi-Fi facilities.
One of the prime focus points will be to create an audio visual experience about the relevant era, like in the case of Ramayana circuit, to audio-visually create Ayodhya, depicting the life and teachings of Lord Rama.
As part of the Buddhist circuit, a light and sound theme park will be constructed at Shravasti, UP.
For the Krishna circuit, spread over several cities including Mathura and Vrindavan, the ministry plans to create yatri sheds, food kiosks, sound and light shows, and illumination of the Parikrama path.
