UP Minister for Religious Affairs, Chaudhary Laxmi Narayan Singh on Friday, 21 December called Hanuman a “Jat”, responding to BJP MLC Bukkal Nawab’s statement, that claimed claimed‘Hanuman Ji was a Muslim’.

“I think Hanuman ji was a Jat. It is in the nature of a Jat to help anyone who is in trouble, irrespective of whether the concerned person is known to him or her. It is similar to the way in which Hanuman joined Lord Ram to rescue Sita after she was abducted by Raavan.”

The trend was started by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who received major flak for his comment, where he had said that Hanuman was a “Dalit.”

‘Hanuman Ji Was a Muslim’: Bukkal Nawab

Following this, BJP’s Bukkal Nawab had refuted Yogi’s statement, saying that Hanuman was actually a ‘Muslim’.

Speaking to ANI, Nawab said:

Hamara man’na hai Hanuman ji Muslaman theyy, isliye Musalmanon ke andar jo naam rakha jata hai Rehman, Ramzan, Farman, Zishan, Qurban jitne bhi naam rakhe jaate hain wo karib karib unhi par rakhe jaate hain. (We believe that Hanuman ji was Muslim, which is why Muslim names such as Rahman, Ramzan, Farman, Zishan, Qurban are so similar to his name.)”

Nawab had earlier donated a 30-kg brass bell at a Hanuman temple in Lucknow News18 reported.

In the middle, a priest in Bhopal had also claimed that Lord Hanuman was neither a Dalit or tribal, but a Jain.

As the saga of Hanuman’s ‘mysterious’ identity continue, BJP MP, Kirti Azad from Bihar, jokingly stated that Hanuman was Chinese, India Today reported on Friday, 21 December.

"Hanuman ji was Chinese. There is a rumour going around that the Chinese are claiming that Hanuman ji was Chinese," Azad said.
