A flight owned by Indian public sector airliner, Air India, was hit by a catering van at the Newark airport in the United States of America (USA) in the late hours of Wednesday.
A Boeing 777 flying to the US from Mumbai, Maharashtra was aligned along with the catering van.
According to sources at Air India, the aircraft – flight number AI-191 – is being assessed for damages by the local engineers.
The passengers, whose number was not immediately available, of the flight were being accommodated on Air India’s New York flight as it would be ‘night-time curfew’ at the airport by the time engineers give their report, they said.
Further details are awaited.
Earlier on Wednesday, take off of an Air India flight flying from Amritsar to Dubai had to be aborted as a dog appeared on the runway.
