  • Egypt’s head of forensics, Hesham Abdelhamid issued a statement on 24 May denying the initial reports that a mid-air explosion possibly caused the crash of the EgyptAir flight, reports Reuters.
  • An earlier quote by an anonymous forensics official claimed that due to the size of the body pieces recovered from the crash site, it was being concluded that a blast had caused the plane to crash.
  • All 66 people on board the flight were killed when the Airbus 320 crashed in the Mediterranean sea on 19 May en route from Paris to Cairo.
