A first-year student of Daulat Ram College, Delhi University has allegedly been facing harassment at the hands of her professor. The matter came to light when she filed an FIR against the man on Wednesday, 31 January, at Maurice Nagar Police station, alleging harassment and stalking. A police probe is underway, reported PTI.
The student, a 17-year-old, has alleged that the professor would try to touch her inappropriately whenever he found her alone. According to a PTI report, the girl informed the police that he would follow her and ask her to meet him. He would even reportedly threaten to fail her in her internal exams when she rejected his advances.
According to a report by The Indian Express, the girl alleged that the professor would stare at her, wink at her during classes and that he tried to contact her on the phone. She also said that on 21 January, he met her near the college canteen and made inappropriate comments.

When asked by TOI if the professor will be allowed to continue teaching there, the Principal of Daulat Ram College Savita Roy said, “It cannot go on like that. Disciplinary action will have to be taken.”
Roy also stated that no complaint had been filed to the administration so far and the internal inquiry had not yet been initiated.
