A 35-40 feet long dead whale was spotted on Juhu beach on Thursday night, the DNA reported. The dead mammal has been identified as a Bryde’s Whale, and was noticed by joggers at around 9 pm.
Makrand Ghodke, Assistant Conservator of Forest (Mangroves Protection Cell)From initial examination, the whale seems to have died a day or two ago. It bloated and was then carried in by the tide to the beach.
Earlier this month, 80 whales were beached in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu and approximately 45 of them died.
