A 22-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly raped by a man while five of his associates filmed the crime in their mobile phones in Odisha's Ganjam district, police said on Tuesday, 17 October.
The police have arrested all the six and booked them under different sections of the IPC and SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocity) Act. They were also booked under Information Technology Act.
The incident, which took place on 16 October, came close on the heels of the alleged gang rape of a minor tribal girl in Koraput district.
The incident took place the college final year student had gone to a temple at at Khetri Berhampur along with her fiance.
The accused allegedly assaulted her fiance and looted his mobile phone, Rs 1,000 in cash and bike before raping her in a jungle near the temple, said Bhanjanagara sub divisional police officer Utkal Kesari Das.
The victim, who belongs to Balisira near Aska, is a student of a college at Bhanjanagra and stays with one of her relatives and is scheduled to marry her fiance in January next year, he said.
The medical examination of the victim was conducted at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here and the medical test of the accused would be conducted soon, police said.
