Sensex rose 164 points at 38,837.18, while Nifty was up 31.70 points at 11,655.60 during closing trade.
Indian equity benchmark S&P Sensex hit an all-time high on Monday, 1 April, crossing the 39,000 mark. Meanwhile, the Nifty went above the 11,700 mark.
Earlier at the opening on Monday, the equity benchmarks extended gains for the third consecutive trading session, following gains in their Asian peers.
