On Thursday, controversial BJP leader Sangeet Som demanded a ban on the screening of the riot-themed film Shorgul in Muzaffarnagar.
Som, who has been under the scanner for his alleged role in the Muzaffarnagar riots, claimed that several political leaders had been portrayed in a factually incorrect manner in the film.
The release date for the forthcoming film Shorgul has been postponed by a week and it will now hit the screens on 1 July instead of 24 June.

The film touches upon grave subjects that have transpired in the recent past such as Muzaffarnagar, Godhra, Babri Masjid riots. It also makes references to bureaucratic misdoings, mind games and controversial master strokes of some high profile dignitaries.
Police officers in the state have been put on alert, IG Sujit Pandey said, and added that the law and order situation will not be allowed to deteriorate. Meanwhile, the owner of a movie theatre, Deepak Seth, said that the film could be screened only if police and administration make adequate security arrangements.
