- The Chief Ministers of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Sikkim met the national president of the BJP, Amit Shah on Tuesday and proposed that they join an alliance of non-Congress parties in the North East.
- The alliance will be called the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) and it will be a part of the NDA, of which Himanta Biswa Sharma, the Governor of Assam has been declared convener.
- The NEDA’s objective will be all-round development of North East and better co-ordination among states in the region and the Central Government.
