Kolkata police have arrested Sambia Sohrab, son of TMC leader Md Sohrab, for allegedly driving the Audi which ran down IAF drill master Corporal Abhimanyu Gaud and eventually killed him.
It was earlier believed that his brother, Ambia Sohrab, Sambia’s brother, was driving the car. Sambia, along with his brother and father, was absconding since the incident.

But Kolkata Police recently confirmed that it Sambia, and not Ambia who was behind the wheels of the Audi.

The IAF had also noted how the West Bengal government under Mamata Banerjee was trying to shield the perpetraors, and hence the delay in tracking down the culprits.

TMC leader and spokesperson Derk O’Brien had claimed that the driver of the car is in no way related to the TMC, and that ecerything was being done to bring the responsibe person to justice.

Gaud was ran over by the Audi, and dragged for quite a distance while he was training his contingent for the Republic Day parade. He eventually died of blood loss.
