A Delhi AAP MLA from Vikaspuri, Mahendra Yadav, has been arrested in a case of rioting and assault. Yadav and his aide were arrested by the West Delhi Police at noon on Friday. Yadav has been accused of creating a ruckus in Delhi’s Nihal Vihar area, while protesting against the rape case of a minor girl, alleging that an FIR had not been registered.
He has been booked for rioting, preventing public servants from performing their duty and causing damage to public property. One of his supporters was arrested on Thursday, and a juvenile protester has been held. Yadav’s supporters have been accused of damaging four police vehicles and blocking traffic on Najafgarh-Nihal Vihar road.
The arrested Vikaspuri MLA will be produced in Tis Hazari Court in a couple of hours and the police are expected to seek his remand.
