Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan could find himself in the eye of a major controversy for his alleged hate speech against the Modi government.

In a video that is floating on social media, the AAP legislator from Okhla constituency is seen calling the Modi government as ‘Haraam****’. Khan alleged that the government has wrongfully arrested Muslim cleric Maulana Mufti Abdus Sami Qasmi for anti-national activities. The video dates back to 16 February.

In the video Khan is seen making an appeal to the crowd to gherao the house of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi.

If you people decide to gherao home minister’s house, if you start doing it, then I can assure you that the government does not have that much courage to touch your children. They (police) have no proof against Mufti Sami. I was told by police that he is involved in influencing youths to join anti-national forces. An atmosphere of terror is being created. All of you have to fight against it. I will very soon ask you to come and protest for the release of Sami and you have to come.

Delhi-based Muslim cleric Maulana Mufti Abdus Sami Qasmi, about whom Khan is seen talking in the video, was arrested in February from Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh. He has been accused of ‘delivering provocative and inflammatory speeches in support of Caliphate and has been instigating youth for anti-national activities.’
