AAP Govt Hands Over Compensation Cheque to Murder Victim’s Family

Delhi Government on Thursday handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to the parents of Meenakshi (19), who was brutally stabbed to death by two men in Central Delhi’s Anand Prabat area in July.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced Rs 5 lakh as compensation to Meenakshi’s family after visiting her house.

Women and Child Development Minister Sandeep Kumar handed over the cheque to the family.

The amount will be drawn from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund according tpoa a senior govt official.

The AAP government has also announced an additional compensation of Rs 5.25 lakh for Meenakshi’s family under the Delhi Victim Compensation Scheme, 2011.

The brutal murder had fuelled the political battle between AAP government and Delhi Police over the state control of Delhi police.
