12 Cops Injured as Physical Ed Graduates Turn Violent in Lucknow

A protest by Physical Education graduates against the lack of jobs by the government in Lucknow turned violent.

Twelve policemen and several others were injured on Tuesday as Physical Education degree holders demanding government jobs in primary and secondary schools of Uttar Pradesh indulged in arson, and clashed with police.

The activists of BP ED Sangharsh Committee turned violent and indulged in severe brick batting, leading to injuries to some 12 policemen.

Police used batons, tear gas shells and water cannons to disperse the protesters, who also damaged several vehicles and set government cars on fire outside the UP Assembly.

As many as 30 people have been taken into custody, the District Magistrate said, adding stern action will be taken against them.
