On the evening of 20 August, a family of five residing in Allahabad’s Dhumanganj area were found dead inside their house. From the reports, it was revealed that a man was found hanging from a ceiling fan whilst the body of his wife was found inside a refrigerator. Along with the couple, bodies of their two daughters were found crammed inside a suitcase and an almirah. Another dead body of a little girl was recovered from another room.

“It is believed that the man, Manoj Kushwaha first killed his family and then killed self,” Senior Superintendent of Allahabad Police, Nitin Tiwari told ANI.

The police are probing that the incident occurred due to dispute in the family. The police also suspected that 35-year old Manoj could’ve suspected wife’s extramarital affair.

Investigation Underway

The matter came to light after the family members were not seen for a few days. Sensing something suspicious, the neighbours informed the police, News18 reported.

An investigation is underway, police added.

Last month, a family of six in Ranchi, Jharkand, were found dead, allegedly owing to mounting financial pressure, as the only earning member of the family had been ill since a long time.

Reports surfacing mass-suicides took a sharp turn after a family of 11 was found dead in their home in North Delhi’s Burari on 1 July.
