It’s been hard to breathe for days, and while the only real solution to this problem would mean cutting pollution at its source, there are some ways you can curb its impact on your lungs.

We went to Khan Market to take a look at the air pollution masks being sold there. And turns out, there’s so much demand that the shop is running out of stock over and over again.

The problem is, air pollution masks may reduce the amount of particles that go into your lungs, but they don’t completely eradicate toxic gases. Plus, the good masks can be rather expensive.

At Vogmask in Khan Market, the base price is Rs, 2,000, which is too expensive for many people in the city. And surgical masks, like the ones you get at hospitals, really don’t do much at all. So millions of people in the city are stuck breathing the air directly.

Still, cheaper alternatives can be found online in the Rs 400 - 500 range. The key to a good filter is to try and find one that has a US NIOSH or EU FFP rating on the box. Once the mask is bought, make sure it fits tightly to not let any air in, and that it is well ventilated.

Good luck out there.
