Can you please help me regarding admission details and procedure in MDU? Also how can I apply for B.Ed in MDU ?
Shivangi Das

Hi Shivangi,

If you want to pursue B.Ed from MDU, you must have completed a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50 percent marks. Candidates with a postgraduate degree can also apply for MDU B.Ed.

MDU B.Ed admission is based on merit. The application usually begins in June last week and continues until July. Interested applicants are supposed to apply through the official website of MDU and then take part in the counselling process to be allotted a seat in any of the affiliated colleges of MDU on the basis of the score obtained.

What if we add physical education in our best of four for DU, will it just result in deduction of 2.5 percent of own or will 2.5 percent be cut from every subject of ours? Please clear my confusion.
Mehran Khanday

Dear Mehran,

It mostly depends on the courses that you are applying for. However, if physical education is mentioned in the list of elective subjects provided by the Delhi University, no marks will be deducted if you include it in the list of best of four subjects. In case, it is not mentioned in the list then 2.5 percent will be deducted from your best of four percentage (not from individual subjects. You do need to check the detailed eligibility criteria for DU courses .

Please note that, students who include vocational subjects while calculating best of four subjects for DU cut-offs will get 2.5 percent deducted for each vocational subject while evaluation. But no marks will be deducted for vocational subjects if you are applying for B.A and B.Com (Programme). You must check the steps and rules to calculate best of four percentage for DU admissions .

I have appeared for class 12 CBSE board exams this year and got 81 percent as an aggregate of physics, chemistry, biology, English and physical education. I wish to pursue bachelors’ in psychology. Can you please suggest some good colleges in India, which would accept me?
Muskan Bakshi

Dear Muskan,

I hope you have applied to government universities for Psychology (Hons), University of Delhi, University of Mumbai, University of Madras, University of Calcutta etc. They all have very good colleges offering B.A/B.Sc Psychology (Hons). With an 81 percent, getting through to DU may be a bit of a challenge, but nevertheless, it’s worth a try. After all, DU comes out with 6-7 cut-off lists!

Since you have studied science in Class 12, we suggest that you opt for B.Sc in Psychology. This degree will allow you to study clinical psychology in the future, which has good career options both in India and abroad.

Some of the top colleges offering B.Sc in Psychology in India include:

A few common job titles for people with this type of degree include case managers, psychiatric technicians, career counsellors, and rehabilitation specialists. Bachelor's degree holders often find work in other areas including advertising, sales, marketing, teaching, and childcare.

With a PG degree in Psychology, you can aspire to get niche jobs or even apply for a license to start your own practice.
