Celebrations at Shri Ram Public School in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, peaked for the first time on Saturday, 27 April, as soon as the results for Uttar Pradesh class 12 were announced, for Tanu Tomar, had topped the senior secondary exam, leaving everyone behind.

Her message to her fellow girl classmates, friends and juniors is as inspiring as her marks. “I would like to tell other girls that they are no less. With their hard work and labour, they can also top UP board exams and beyond. They can earn a name for their school and country,” Tanu said. She also thanked her parents and teachers for their relentless support.

She said that this result was possible only because she studied for 19-20 hours during her preparation days.

Second and third in rank after Tanu are also girls, holding their heads high. While rank two has been secured by Bhagyashree Upadhyay, Akanksha Shukla has the third highest percentage in Uttar Pradesh.

‘Strictness in Conducting Board Exams Helped Us’

Gautam Raghuvanshi, who has topped the Uttar Pradesh Board class 10 exam with 97.17 percent has also thanked his parents and teachers for their support. Raghuvanshi hails from UP’s Kanpur.

“I am fortunate to have my parents' and teacher’s support. I will give all credit to them and after studying science in class 12, I want to pursue engineering,” Raghuvanshi said.

He added that an increase in alertness and strictness in the way the board exam was conducted in Uttar Pradesh this year, has also helped.
