JNU MBA Admission 2019: Application Process to Start on 20 January

The admission process for Master of Business Administration (MBA) course at the ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Management and Entrepreneurship (ABVSME)’ in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will start from 20 January, NDTV reported.

Renowned for its humanities programme, this will reportedly be the first batch of the course at the university. The admissions will be based on the scores of the Common Admission Test (CAT). The candidates also need to submit the CAT registration number in their application forms.

Those having applied to the MBA programme of ABVSME, JNU, on qualifying the CAT will be shortlisted and invited for an interview thereafter, NDTV reported.

Here’s the admission process and the fees structure:

Admission Process

  • Candidates should first apply online on the JNU website.
  • A candidate has to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) in 2018 conducted by IIMs. Any candidate applying to get admission into the JNU MBA programme must submit his/her CAT Test Registration Number.
  • JNU will use CAT scores for shortlisting/selecting the candidates for the MBA programme. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.
  • On qualifying the CAT, shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.
  • CAT 2018 scores will be used for shortlisting candidates for interviews for admission in the MBA programme. At least three times the number of intake in each category would be shortlisted for interviews.
  • The final list of selected candidates will be based on CAT scores and the marks obtained in the interview. The weightage on CAT scores shall be 70 percent and the weightage of marks obtained in the interviews shall be 30 percent.
  • ABVSME would take 50 students each year for its MBA programme.

Fee Structure

  • Rs. 2,000 (two thousand) only for General Category and OBC applicants.
  • Rs. 1,000 (one thousand) only for SC/ST/PwD applicants.

Important Dates

  • Start of online application process: 20 January, 10 am onwards
  • Closing of online application process: 1 March, 2019, till 11.59 pm
  • Dates for MBA viva/interview of shortlisted candidates: 15, 16 and 18 April, 2019
  • Final results to be declared: 26 April, 2019
  • Booking of seats: 3 May, 2019 (10.00 am) to 6 May, 2019 (till 11.59 pm)
  • Second list (if required): 10 May, 2019
  • Booking of seats after second list: 10 May, 2019 (from 10 am) to 14 May, 2019 (till 11.59 pm)
