Marking the beginning of the Central Board of Secondary Exams (CBSE) exams as students brace themselves, the board has started its pre-examination psychological counselling services for students and parents who can access the ‘Counselling’ tab at www.cbse.nic.in.
The psychological counselling sessions, which began today, 1 February, will span through the examinations up to 4 April to help students overcome exam related anxiety. The exams phase lasting for over two months, including preparation for competitive entrance exams, can lead to stress and anxiety in some students.
CBSE’s initiative is part of the board’s outreach programme designed to cater to the students’ and parent’s in schools across the country and even outside.
Options Galore To Seek Help
Keeping up with its practices, CBSE has opened multiple avenues for counselling students, including online and offline methods this year as well.
The Board has also introduced a new method this year - Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS), which can be accessed any time and the counseling on this mode will be available from 8 am to 10 pm on all days.
CBSE has also opened tele-counselling line - where counselling is being offered by principals and trained counselors from within CBSE affiliated schools located in and outside India.
For the first time, a comprehensive audio-visual presentation titled ‘Knowing Children Better’ has been prepared and uploaded on the CBSE website.
“The various topics deal with real time experiences and problems of adolescents with suggestive measures as coping strategies,” CBSE officials said in a statement.
CBSE is also offering counselling in question answer columns by experts, who will answer queries of students through weekly columns to be published in major national newspapers during the month of February.
Students can also seek online counselling by reaching out to the officials of CBSE at counselling.cecbse@gmail.com.
