A video floating on social media shows three students, reportedly including one Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) member, dancing around in DUSU President Ankiv Baisoya’s office. This comes on as the probe into the case of Basioya's ‘fake’ degree submission drags on.
The video shows the students recording their stunt in the DUSU office in North Campus. Baisoya is not present in the clip.
In another clip, ABVP students can be seen playing Ludo in the DUSU vice president’s office.
Akshay Lakra, NSUI’s state president, who has been closely tracking the development on Baisoya’s fake degree, pointed that Vinit Bansal, reportedly an ABVP member, is playing Ludo in the video.
The ABVP has denied knowing any detail of the incident.
Don’t Know Anyone Dancing in the Video: Baisoya
Terming the students seen in the video as “outsiders”, Baisoya told The Quint, "They are some outsiders who entered the office behind my back. I don't recognise anyone.”
“They entered the office in my absence. The DUSU guard keeps the keys to my office," Ankiv Baisoya said as he blamed the guard for giving the key to students in his “absence”.
As the ABVP vehemently denies knowing any of the three students involved, one of the boys seen dancing around Baisoya's chair has been identified as Vinit Bansal. Bansal’s Facebook profile says he is a member of ABVP and a student of BA Programme in DU's Kirorimal College.
Don’t Ridicule DUSU Office: NSUI
Student leaders in the university have expressed stern disapproval of the behaviour on display in the DUSU office, which they say goes against the decorum usually expected in a student leader's office.
“It is ridiculous to see ABVP’s fake DUSU President Ankiv Baisoya office being used by so-called Karyakarta’s for mocking the sanctity of the office and chair rather than working for welfare of students.”Akshay Lakra, State President, NSUI
The NSUI’s national secretary mentioned that dancing in the DUSU office is nothing short of ridiculing the office and the post and that this act casts shadow on DUSU office’s prestige.
“Ankiv Baisoya and the ABVP have continuously been mocking the whole DUSU Elections by contesting election by means of fake documents, and then slowing down the investigation process through bigotry. NSUI demands action on these three students and on Ankiv Baisoya as well for letting down the prestige of the office.”Saimon Farooqui, NSUI national secretary and media in-charge
Not the First Time for ABVP
Two years ago in October 2016, student leaders of the ABVP landed in an embarrassing situation when they had to explain photographs of rifles seen spread out on a table in front of then DUSU President Amit Tanwar. The incident took place in DUSU office.
Another student, standing next to Tanwar in the picture, also brandished a pistol in his hand, reported The Indian Express.
