The Delhi High Court has issued a notice on a writ petition filed by one Nipun Malhotra, founder of Wheels for Life, a platform dedicated to empowering persons with disabilities. The petition was against the Delhi government on their procurement of 2000 non-disabled friendly buses.
According to the petition, the Delhi government acquired the standard-floor buses, instead of the low-floor ones that are disabled friendly, without consulting with representatives of the disabled community. The act, according to the petition, is in violation with the mandate Article 15 of the Constitution that prohibits all forms of discrimination.
