Moreover, in a move to accommodate more passengers per train, the present six-coach trains will be converted into eight-coach ones, said the TOI report.

After the Blue Line, the second busiest corridor, the Yellow Line, will get 14 new eight-coach trains.

However, due to comparatively lower footfall, the Pink, Magenta and Violet Lines will have only six-coach trains. Most of the four-coach trains for the Red Line will be converted into six-coach ones. Also, from 10 six coach-trains, the Red Line will get a total of 39 soon.

Further, the DMRC will also hire additional staff, as part of its expansion efforts. The existing 9,000-strong staff will reportedly get an additional 3,000 staffers.
