Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s maiden Budget and said that it is “one of hope”. He described it as citizen friendly, development friendly and one which will empower the poor and ensure a better future for the youth.

In a televised address after the Union Budget was tabled in the Parliament, Modi said the policies of the government will empower the downtrodden and turn them into a “power house” for the development of the country, according to PTI. Terming the Budget a “green budget”, he said it focused on the environment and pitched for green and clean energy.
Modi said the Budget underlines structural reforms in the agricultural sector and has a roadmap to transform the farm sector and doubling farmers' income.
‘Foundation of an Inclusive & Progressive Nation’
Praising the Union budget as futuristic, BJP president Amit Shah said it reflects Prime Minister Modi's vision where farmers prosper, the poor lead a life of dignity, the middle class gets its due and Indian enterprise gets a boost.
Shah said the budget ignites a spirit of hope that India can become a 5 trillion dollar economy in the coming years.
It also sets the stage for fulfilling our collective dreams of water for every citizen, ensuring electricity connectivity across India and boosting manufacturing especially in sunrise sectors, Shah said, adding that the budget will enable India to become a more vibrant start-up hub.
‘Budget Fulfills Expectations of People’
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said that in the making of new India, the Finance Minister has given utmost priority to infrastructure. “The budget of our department in 2018-19 was Rs 78,626 crore, now it is over Rs 83,000 crore,” Gadkari said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lauded Sitharaman for being the first woman full-time finance minister to have presented the Union Budget. “I want to congratulate her. The budget fulfils the expectations of the people of the country.” Adityanath said.
Defence Minister Hails Budget as ‘Futuristic’
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called the Budget “futuristic” as it brings socio-economic transformation. “It has taken care of all sections of society, be it poor, backward or rich people,” Singh said.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis termed the Budget “visionary” and a “manifestation of PM Modi’s dream to make India a 5 trillion dollar economy.”
Meanwhile, BJP MP from Mathura, Hema Malini said she felt great that a woman presented the Union Budget. “Nari is Narayani, agar ye humare desh mein log samajh len toh ye jo hinsa ho rahi hai mahilaon ke prati, that will stop (A woman is a goddess. If people in our country understand this, the violence against women will stop),” she added, in a reference to the Budget’s focus on women.
