Indian equity benchmarks extended declines to trade at day's low.
The S&P BSE Sensex fell 330 points to end at 40,323, and NSE Nifty 50 plummeted 104 points at 11,907 as of 3:25 pm on Friday, 8 November. The Indian equity benchmarks, on Friday 8 November, had opened lower.
The previous day, Sensex fell 0.29 percent to 40,540 points after closing on a record high the previous day. NSE Nifty 50 also opened 0.32 percent lower, at 11,973 points, while the broader market index, represented by the NSE Nifty 500 also fell about 0.23 percent.
The market breadth was tilted in favour of sellers. About 786 stocks declined, while 633 shares advanced on the National Stock Exchange.
Nine out of 11 sectoral gauges compiled by the NSE traded lower, led by the NSE Nifty metal index’s 1 percent fall. On the flipside, the NSE Nifty Realty Index was the top sectoral gainer, up by 1.6 percent.
