After years of debate and speculation, the Goods and Services Tax will debut in India on the 1 July. Before that, however, customers all over the country are enjoying massive discounts for shopping both online and offline.
Whether you’re looking to buy a gift for Dad ahead of Fathers’ Day, or a new television before India and Pakistan clash on the cricket and hockey fields this Sunday, the pre-GST sales just made it a whole lot cheaper.
The Quint went live from a Vijay Sales showroom in Noida to check whether the sales are truly inducing a shopping fever. The discount frenzy will continue till the end of June, from apparels to electronics and much more.
In a bid to clear the existing stock before the tax reform is introduced and to cover any impending losses, huge discounts can be seen across brands and retail stores like Lifestyle, Shopper’s Stop, Pantaloons and so on.
Regardless of their opinions on GST itself, customers aren’t complaining about the heavy discounts up on offer! The end-of-season sales too have come early, all thanks to the new Goods and Services Tax.
