Things have been tense at Tata Sons since October this year, when Mistry was removed from the position of chairman.
Mistry’s ouster took place at the Tata Industries EGM or Extraordinary General Meeting on Monday morning. With this step, Mistry ceases to be the chairman of the board.
In a four-page letter, Tata Sons has appealed to shareholders of Tata companies, seeking their support in removing Mistry from the board of all of the group’s companies.
The timing of the letter is crucial as it comes just days before first of the six key meetings that are to be convened by various Tata Group Companies.
In the letter, Tata Sons has alleged that Mistry did not implement any of the elaborate plans that he laid out for the group in 2011. The letter also states that his presence as the director would lead to the group’s “fragmentation”.
