"Listen to Your Inner Conscience"

Addressing the media in Ahmedabad, joint-opposition candidate Meira Kumar appealed to the collegium to listen to their “inner conscience” while casting their votes for Presidential elections.

Responding to a question, she said while it made her happy that everyone terms this election a ‘Dalit vs Dalit’ fight, it should be looked as a fight for ideologies. She also said:

Ever since I have entered public life, I have dedicated my life to serving the poor, feeble, women, cutting across caste and religion. Wherever I am I will continue with the agenda

Meira Kumar Launches Campaign

Opposition Presidential candidate Meira Kumar will launch her campaign from the Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat in the presence of Congress leaders from the state.

Kumar, who arrived in Ahmedabad on 29 June, is scheduled to visit the ashram around 9:30 am and then meet the Congress MLAs at the party headquarters.

Attempts are being made by some to project the election as a Dalit vs Dalit fight. It was from Gujarat that the ideology of Gandhiji spread across the country and world. That is why I have come here to make the people realise that we fight for our ideologies.
