A Delhi Court on Thursday granted bail to AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran and his aide Mallikarjun in the Election Commission bribery case.
A case was filed against Dhinakaran for allegedly bribing EC officials to allocate AIADMK's two-leaves symbol to the VK Sasikala-led faction for the RK Nagar polls – which was necessitated by the death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
The Tiz Hazari court granted the duo bail on a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh. They accused were also asked to surrender their passports to the court.
Dhinakaran was arrested in Delhi on 18 April, along with his aide after several days of questioning by the CBI. The Delhi Police registered an FIR against him on 17 April for allegedly offering EC officials a bribe worth Rs 50 crore.
