The police on Wednesday arrested Vikas Barala and his accomplice Ashish Kumar for attempting to abduct Varnika Kundu on the streets of Chandigarh.

Speaking to ANI, Chandigarh DGP Tejinder Luthra DGP said the two would be arrested under sections 365 and section 511 of the IPC.

Luthra added that his department would seek the judicial custody of the accused and that a complete picture would emerge only after the duo have been taken to the crime scene for reconstruction.

Expressing his satisfaction with security forces, Varnika’s father said the way to justice is a long one. He added that justice would only be done after the courts punish those guilty of stalking his daughter.
