Undeterred by Monday’s dastardly terror attack, a fresh batch of Amarnath pilgrims left for the holy shrine under heavy security cover in the wee hours of 11 July.

“No amount of terrorist attacks can stop us from visiting the cave-shrine,” one of the devotees, who hails from Jharkhand, told ANI. Several others chanted Bam Bam Bhole as they left for the arduous trek.

The 10 July attack on pilgrims at Anantnag, which left seven dead and over 19 injured, drew criticism from all quarters. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who visited the injured at an Anantnag hospital, said the attack has caused Kashmiris to “hang their heads in shame.” She added that her government would take stern action against all those involved.

Meanwhile, the National Panthers Party has called for an strike to protest PDP-BJP government’s failure to protest Amarnath pilgrims.
