Protests erupted in Tamil Nadu’s Rameswaram after a 22-year-old fisherman was shot dead, reportedly by the Sri Lankan Navy on Monday. Thousands have now gathered in front of Bridgo’s house, who was shot in the neck while fishing off the Katchatheevu isle. His family has demanded a probe into the matter.

Bridgo’s death comes hours after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palanisamy met PM Modi on Monday, urging him to secure the release of around 85 fishermen from Tamil Nadu who are said to be languishing in Lankan jails.
