In a move that has surprised many, prominent traders’ associations in Tamil Nadu have decided to boycott Coke and Pepsi, the two most popular beverages sold in India by foreign manufacturers.
Traders in the southern state are reportedly miffed with the two brands and want to promote Indian soft drinks instead.
However, retail chain giants and other supermarkets have refused to comply with the unofficial ban.
The cola market in Tamil Nadu is dominated by Torino and Bovonto, two soft drinks manufactured within the state.
