Vice President Venkaiah Naidu on Monday, 23 April, rejected the impeachment motion against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, moved by the Congress-led Opposition.
Following the decisions made by the Supreme Court in the Justice Loya case, the Congress-led opposition submitted an impeachment motion against the Chief Justice of India, which was signed by 64 MPs, but subsequently rejected by Vice President Naidu.
The decision by the Vice President to reject the motion left Twitter divided.
Many users, including members of the opposition, claimed that the move by the Vice President was unjust and influenced by the Vice President’s allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
