‘Period. End of Sentence,’ the short documentary film on the stigma surrounding women during menstruation in rural India has made it to the 91st Oscar’s shortlist in the Documentary Short Subject category.
The film’s executive producer Guneet Monga shared the happy news with everyone over this post on Instagram:
The film was co-produced by Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment which is also known for backing movies like Masaan and The Lunchbox.
Award winning filmmaker Rayka Zehtabchi directed the short film while Sam Davis was behind the camera.
The film was actually part of The Pad Project, initiated by of students at the Oakwood School in Los Angeles and their teacher, Melissa Berton, as this ET article reports.
The 26 minuter follows the exploits of two girls from Hapur village in Uttar Pradesh as they struggle to fight the stigma against menstruation and install a pad vending machine in their village.
