If you have ever been body-shamed for being too fat or too skinny or for your eyes not being the same size or any such imperfection, here is something Vidya Balan is has to say to you.
In the above video, Vidya Balan calls out the body-shamers and shares the plight of being on the receiving end of such hateful comments. The video has come out in collaboration with 92.7 Big FM.
The video is making rounds across the internet with the hashtag #DhunBadalKeTohDekho and the audience is in awe of the way Balan has put across the raging issue. In this video, Balan sings famous Bollywood songs with slightly differently lyrics that impose the idea of body-shaming. Also, she can bee seen in messed up makeup, covered in a dupatta and with her eyes full of tears portraying the attack at one’s self-confidence. Towards the end, Balan comes across as a strong being who has put away all the hate and challenges the body-shamers because she is much more than her appearance.
Balan pulls the right strings by elaborating how little indifferent comments about one’s appearance can tatter their confidence. This lack of confidence and self-appreciation can become a part of one’s personality and impact them for the rest of their lives.
One amazing perspective adopted in this video is that Balan does not motivate the victims of body-shaming to come out strong by dealing with the hate. Instead, very boldly, she asks the body-shamers to keep their unwelcome opinions to themselves while addressing the root of the problem.
Here is what people had to say about this video.
Vidya Balan herself has faced a lot of criticisms for her body and weight but I don’t remember that ever stopping her from becoming a flawless actress and performer that she is.
The message came from a fighter herself and it could not have resonated better.
