Thanks to Netflix’s new teen romantic comedy ‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’, Yakult has become the new sensation, with people all over the world flocking to the stories to purchase the drink.
While it has been referred to as the 'Korean yogurt smoothie' in the movie by the protagonist’s sister, Tweeples were quick to point out that it was Yakult -- a dairy product from Japan.
While the shares of Yakult dropped about 6 percent in 2018, it climbed 2.6 percent since the movie’s release on 17 August.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know what an important role the ‘yoghurt smoothie’ played in Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean’s love life. But looks like Yakult has benefitted from their love story too.
‘Never Before Has There Been Yakult Shortage’
People from across the world took to Twitter to complain about the shortage of the drink in stores.
Twitter Surprised About Lack Of ‘Yakult’ Knowledge
Yakult was first mentioned when Lara-Jean’s sister introduces them to Peter Kavinsky, and later when Kavinsky packs snacks for Lara-Jean for their ski trip. While the drink became a rage after the movie’s release, people on Twitter were surprised that the world did not know about Yakult before.
