If you’ve been waiting for the much talked about movie Crazy Rich Asians, you would have faced some disappointment earlier during the day.
Warner Brothers tweeted from their official handle, stating- "We are sad to announce that Crazy Rich Asians would not be releasing in India."
This led to a wave of disappointment with people voicing their concern on Twitter.
Touted to be the first contemporary English-language Hollywood movie with an almost all-Asian cast after a long time, Crazy Rich Asians is based on a book by Kevin Kwan with the same name. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film stars Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Awkwafina, Nico Santos, Lisa Lu, Ken Jeong and Michelle Yeoh.
“Really Disappointed...”
Though the film did well at the box office internationally, there have been complaints that the film doesn't represent the true diversity of Southeast Asia or Asia. However, the disappointment among desis was widespread.
Wait, Where is the Tweet Now...?
But wait.
There is more to the story.
Warner Brother later took down the tweet, raising people’s hopes of an Indian release again.
So, the questions remains:
Do we, back here, get to watch the movie or not?
