Vogue India recently unveiled the cover of its 10th anniversary issue, which features American supermodel Kendall Jenner. Social media users didn’t take too kindly to an American model gracing the anniversary issue cover of the magazine’s Indian edition.
The cover, shot in Jaipur, is part of a photo shoot that also features Sushant Singh Rajput. The pictures from the shoot, which will appear in the issue, have been taken by renowned photographer Mario Testino.
The cover left Indian Twitter users both befuddled and fuming. While some asked Vogue India if there was a dearth of Indian models to choose from, others were mystified at the choice of Kendall Jenner in particular. Questions were also raised about representation and the responsible dissemination of a message by a celebratory edition, unique to India.
