India women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj created history on Wednesday by becoming the leading run-scorer in women's One Day International (ODI) cricket. She broke the record in a match against Australia in the ICC Women's World Cup 2017 at Bristol, surpassing England’s Charlotte Edwards.
This is a super proud moment for our country and wishes have been pouring in from all over, congratulating Raj for her historic achievement.
Among one of the congratulatory messages was that of Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who took to his Facebook page to laud Mithali Raj. He wrote: “A great moment for Indian Cricket, Mithali Raj becomes the highest run scorer in Women’s ODI Cricket History today. Champion Stuff!”
Sweet gesture, but he made a faux pas and uploaded a photo of opener Punam Raut instead of Mithali! Here’s the Facebook post.
Though the post was deleted soon after, people were quick to point out his mistake in the comments section.
But let’s not be too hard on Virat, after all, it’s the thought that counts!
