If you thought Vijay Mallya would be sobbing his eyes out in exile, then you’re in for a huge surprise. In a video posted by his son Siddharth Mallya, on the eve of the IPL 2016 final, the father-son duo were seen enjoying their Sunday in London. Senior Mallya seemed unfazed despite the debt-drama.
The Indian Government has its hands full with Mallya, with repeated attempts to bring him back to the country ending in failure.
Rs 9,000 crore is an insane amount of money and can be put to good use in India. To get a little perspective, consider these facts:
- It is nearly one-third of the Government’s expenditure on Education.
- It is nearly one-tenth of the Central Government’s expenditure on maintaining the Police.
- It is the amount of money that the Union government has allocated for the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.
It is infuriating to watch a man who owes the country so much money chilling in his den with friends and family. We feel helpless but all we can do is hope to get the money back soon.
