When the kids at her school were asked to dress up for Princess Week, five-year-old Ainsley wanted to be a little different. So, Ainsley, our new hero, went dressed as a hotdog.

Let children be children.
Why do little girls always need to adhere to gender norms to look cute? Why must they always wear bows and hairbands?
If she wants to have a messy hair and play with her dad’s tie, let her.
If she wants to dress up like an ice-cream cone or a hot dog, let her.
Let’s Cut the Crap
Other than different genitalia and physical appearance, there is no real difference between children of different genders.
So if your daughter, sister or niece comes and tells you that she wants to become a hotdog in a fancy dress competition, let her! Alternatively, if your son, brother or nephew wants to be a princess, let him.
Little princesses are cute, but who on earth said hotdogs aren’t? You go Ainsley! Be the best hotdog you can be.
