The Quint takes a look at how the Twitter world reacted to Dipa Karmakar’s spectacular performance at the Rio Games

India’s first ever gymnast to qualify for the finals of the individual vault event – Dipa Karmakar scripted history when she finished fourth in her event on Sunday.

Karmakar, who pulled off the deadly ‘Produnova’ vault in her second attempt missed India’s first medal at the Rio Olympics by 0.15 points after averaging 15.066 points in the finals.

Even though she didn’t win a medal, all the Indian sports fans are very proud of Dipa Karmakar’s effort and result at the quadrennial event.

Notable personalities such as Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Abhinav Bindra among others complimented Dipa for her performance at the Games.
